R Resysta® · Agio Group
Decking Facades Marine Street furniture

A wood-like building material engineered for the world's harshest climates.

Resysta is a sustainable, wood-free composite made from ~60% rice husk. Water absorption under 1%, no termites, no rot, and stable from −40 °C to +98 °C — engineered to stay put outdoors, wherever the project is.
Manufactured by Agio Group (est. 1978) Red Dot Design Award Green Product Award 2018 China / Germany / Japan / US patents
Why Resysta

A responsible material that performs like premium hardwood

Born from German technology and refined by Agio Group, Resysta turns an agricultural by-product — rice husk — into a dense, durable composite. It looks and works like tropical hardwood, but without the deforestation, the swelling, or the termite problem.

🌾

Wood-free & sustainable

~60% rice husk — an agricultural residue — compounded with rock salt, mineral oil, silica and a proprietary additive package. It contains no wood.

🛡️

Formaldehyde-free (ENF)

Indoor emission ≤0.025 mg/m³ (ENF class). Soluble heavy metals (Pb/Cd/Cr/Hg) not detected. Safe for healthcare, schools and homes.

♻️

100% recyclable

A closed-loop material with no tropical timber. Supports green-building credits and circular-economy procurement.

🪚

Works like wood

Cut, sand, drill, rout, paint, oil and even heat-bend it with standard carpentry tools. No specialised installation crew required.

German origin · licensed production, in-house R&D

Developed in Germany in 1996. The plant, the production licence and the R&D team are with us today.

Resysta did not start as a Chinese copy of a German formula. The German engineering team behind it spent two decades refining the compound before the technology was licensed into China — and in 2018 the German production line was moved to our Shunde plant in Foshan, together with the R&D team and the production licence. What you buy today is the same material, made on the same equipment, in the same plant.

1996
Rice-husk composite developed by the German engineering team at MBM.
2011
Carved out and renamed Resysta, backed by Alpina Partners; Resysta International established.
2012
Red Dot Design Award; US subsidiary opened; market office set up in China.
2016
Regional licence agreements concluded for Europe, South Asia and Greater China.
2018
German plant relocated to Foshan / Shunde — R&D, production and the production licence moved to Agio Group. Second Red Dot Award.
2023

Patents granted in four jurisdictions, two of them in the United States
2012 & 2018
Red Dot Design Award — awarded twice to the material
1996
First developed in Germany — the same compound is still the one in production
Built for extreme climates

Where timber and standard WPC fail, Resysta holds

Coastal humidity, salt-laden air, desert heat, freezing winters and relentless UV — these are exactly the conditions Resysta was tested against. Its near-zero water uptake is the reason it does not swell, crack or host termites.

+98.4 °C
Upper service temperature (Series II, tested)
<1%
Water absorption — ideal for coastal & high-humidity sites
−40 °C
Lower service temperature — sub-zero winters
>4
Light fastness grade — colour holds under intense UV
Unlike timber and conventional wood-plastic composites, Resysta has no organic food source for termites and does not absorb enough water to rot or warp. That is why it is already specified for marinas, waterfront promenades and tropical hospitals.

Translated from the manufacturer's physical-property test report. ENF = China's formaldehyde emission class (≤ 0.025 mg/m³); A-class fire result applies to the Class A Wall Panel only, under the tested installation conditions.

Certifications & Compliance

An honest compliance picture for your market

We would rather show you exactly where we stand. Below is what is held today and what is in progress or available on request for market entry. No over-claiming.

✅ Held & verified

  • Non-combustible panel: GB 8624 A (A2-s1,d0) — SGS report AJFS2311010742FF_CN (2023-12-04), sample AGIOWOOD A2, 6 mm, under the stated installation conditions.
  • Industry standard: GH/T 1383-2022 《Rice-husk Regenerated Wood》 — Agio Group is the lead authoring unit.
  • Awards: Red Dot (2012), Green Product Award (2018), MaterialPREIS (2015), Dwell Award (2011).
  • Patents: granted in China, Germany, Japan and the United States (2) — held by the German IP owner and licensed to us.
  • EB panel: Fire class B1; ≥99% antibacterial (test report on request); 10-year colour stability (xenon test).

🟡 Eurasian markets — pathways supported

  • EAEU / EAC (TR CU): Kazakhstan is a Eurasian Economic Union member — EAC conformity is the entry route; we prepare technical files and factory-audit support.
  • Uzbekistan: national certification (Uzstandard) — we provide declarations of conformity and test backing.
  • Material is wood-free, which simplifies phytosanitary / plant-health clearance versus timber imports.

🟡 Regional approvals — in progress / on request

  • SABER PCoC + SCoC (Saudi Arabia) — via local importer.
  • UAE ECAS (MoIAT) and Dubai Central Laboratory (DCL) listing.
  • Dubai Civil Defence (DCD) fire approval for tall buildings — requires ASTM E84 / E136 testing, which is scheduled, not yet held.
  • We support your certification journey with test data and factory documentation.

⚠️ Important — scope of fire claims

The A2-s1,d0 classification is issued under China's GB 8624 and uses the same classification notation as EN 13501-1. It is a separate certification system; we do not claim EN 13501-1, ASTM E84/E136, NFPA 285 or BS 8414 certifications, and we do not claim a fire rating for profiles other than the Class A Wall Panel and B1 for the EB panel.

Compliance status reflects the manufacturer's documentation as of the publication date of this brochure. Buyers should confirm the latest certificate validity and any market-specific requirement (SABER, ECAS, EAC, etc.) with Agio Group's export team before specification.
